The Royal Castle you see today is a testament to an entire nation's will. After being systematically dynamited by German forces in 1944, the Castle was left as a pile of rubble. For decades, it existed only in memories, photographs, and architectural plans.

The decision to rebuild was made in 1971, funded entirely by public donations from Poles at home and abroad. Using pre-war plans and salvaged fragments, architects, engineers, and craftsmen meticulously recreated the Castle's interiors and exterior. The great clock on the tower, which stopped at the moment of the first bombing in September 1939, was restarted in 1974, symbolizing the rebirth of this national icon.
